Redeemer Welcomes Beth Ernest as Senior Pastor

After conducting a rigorous, 10-month search for the best candidate for Senior Pastor at Redeemer Covenant Church, our Pastoral Search Committee presented the Rev. Beth Ernest for the position. She was voted in by on the congregation and will begin serving October 24, 2017.

Pastor Beth comes to us highly qualified, experienced and credentialed from the Evangelical Covenant Church. She received her Bachelor’s degree from North Park College, Master of Divinity from Boston University School of Theology, and performed additional graduate work in  spiritual direction from North Park Theological Seminary.

Pastor Beth has 28 years of ministry experience. Her ability to lead churches through times of transition, turbulence, healing and, most importantly, revitalization, make her uniquely qualified to pastor our congregation in and through this next phase of ministry. Her preaching skills and ability to communicate the message of the Gospel are on par with the best communicators in our denomination. In addition, her emphasis on spiritual formation and spiritual direction will be a tremendous benefit to our congregation and welcome familiarity from the strengths and passions of our previous pastors.

Pastor Beth is passionate about outreach and evangelism. Our congregation will resonate with her vision for reaching out to our local community. She is well-connected and a connector of people. She is compassionate, empathetic, and has a heart for people. She is collaborative, works well with teams, and doesn’t try to go it alone. And she is high-energy, enthusiastic, and ready for action!

Pastor Beth is married to James Ernest, a scholar of historical theology and the editor-in-chief of Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. They reside in Caledonia. They are the parents of Miriam, a professional ballet dancer turned student at the University of Michigan and Samuel, a student at Yale Divinity School.

Please join us on October 29 for Pastor Beth’s first worship service as our pastor.

Pastor Beth is excited about this new ministry: “I am convinced that God is ready to shower his blessings on Redeemer Covenant Church, Dutton, and the wider communities of Caledonia and Kentwood. Please pray for us and with us as seek to follow Jesus together.”
