“The Sacred Journey is a pilgrimage for those who are thirsty for God,” said Sharon Brown, a pastor at Redeemer. “It’s for the weary and the discouraged and the dissatisfied. It’s for those who are longing for deeper intimacy and friendship with Jesus.” Redeemer Covenant invites women from West Michigan to come and explore spiritual disciplines as they seek to create sacred space for God.
“One of the things that makes this pilgrimage so unique is that women will have a chance to walk the same spiritual formation paths as the characters in the novel, Sensible Shoes,” said participant Jill Damec. “I read and studied Sensible Shoes a year ago with a small group of women from Redeemer Covenant Church and it changed my relationship with God. I’m so excited for more women to share in this experience and be transformed.”
The Sacred Journey is held at Redeemer and is facilitated by Sharon Brown. Sensible Shoes is the story of four women who meet to explore a deeper life with Christ. The book is about a journey of prayer, healing, and self-discovery. Pilgrimage participants are encouraged to read Sensible Shoes prior to attending the first session. The six session pilgrimage is held over 12 weeks. Watch here for the announcement of the next dates for the Sacred Journey.
The second book in the Sensible Shoes series, Two Steps Forward, was published in Fall 2015 by InterVarsity Press.
