Sermon on Psalm 23

(Sorry, no recording of the sermon today.) So what did Jack have to say about Psalm 23? It is worth mentioning that authors and students use quotations from this and many other psalms when writing novels, articles, poetry, reviews. However, in order to accurately learn how to use all literary and artistic means, it is better to use the tips of authors from the https://300writers.com/hire-a-poem-writer.html poetry writing service, they often collect the necessary theoretical material for meetings in our community. Here are a couple ‘one liners’ from my notes:

“We don’t want a church full of little Ishmaels.”

“When answers are idols.”

“Silence is God’s final defence against idolatry.” i.e. it is the relationship, not the answers from God that is important.

Do you love me? Peter’s story

Sharon Brown puts us in Peter’s shoes in this sermon.  Before Jesus died, Peter was afraid to be seen with Jesus. In John 21 he jumps out of the boat to see the resurrected Lord.  However he feels insulted when Jesus asks him three times “do you love me?”  How should we apply the lessons of Peter’s story? What are we being called to do? Listen as Sharon illuminates the Word.

Doubting me?

Okay, we all know what Doubting Thomas means (John 20:19-31). But what about our own doubt? Do we sound like the father of a son needing healing who says “I do believe, help me overcome my disbelief” (Mark 9:24)? At least that’s honest. Now how do we build on it? Listen as Jack helps us reflect.

Sanctuary Prayer Journey

Take some time out of your schedule this week to stop by and see the creative artwork in our sanctuary displaying the Stations of the Cross. Each of the eight stations offers a chance to read the Scripture accounts of Jesus’ last hours and reflect prayerfully on artwork created by members of Redeemer while quiet music plays.

A wonderful way to center yourself in preparation for the remembrance of Christ’s death and the celebration of His resurrection!

The sanctuary will be open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 6:30-8:30pm, and on Good Friday from 9am-3pm.  You can come and go as you like, and spend as much time as you like taking the Prayer Journey.

Broken and spilled out

Nothing like a traditional gospel reading and sermon to refresh your faith.  Jack speaks from John 12:1-8 where Mary washes and perfumes Jesus’ feet. Actually Jack starts with a story of being refreshed by the “smell of home”.

Lost and Found

The lectionary brings us to Luke 15, with some famous parables, including the prodigal son story. We know the stories, but how should we act upon them?

Here is the surprising testimonial (Youtube link) from Penn Jillette when he was given a Bible from a ‘good man’.
